The Tiger Woods Car Accident Discussed by Car Accident Lawyers

Sunday Feb 23, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.

Tiger Woods legendary golfer, philanthropist, athlete, and superstar is recovering from the second car accident of his career to make national news. The Tiger Woods car accident in 2021 is broken down here from a personal injury attorney’s perspective.

What Happened?

According to the LA sheriffs department, the accident occurred just after 7 a.m. on Tuesday, in Rancho Palos Verdes, just southwest Los Angeles.

Tiger was said to be traveling at a relatively fast speed when he hit the center median, crossed into the opposing lane of traffic, and landed in a nearby brush. Tiger was the only person in the 2021 Genesis that rolled several times in the accident.

Investigators are investigating but say that alcohol does not seem to be a factor in the accident.

As to what may have caused the Tiger Woods car accident, there is only speculation at the moment. One car accident analyst who was at the scene believes that Woods may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

What Kind of Recourse Is Available?

It’s difficult to imagine that Tiger would need to hire a personal injury lawyer to recover damages of any kind, but in this case, he would likely not even be able to pursue anyone for damages because he was alone when the car accident occurred and may have caused the accident himself.

If he did indeed fall asleep at the time of the accident, his health insurance, and car insurance will cover him without question.

Like many other athletes and celebrities, Tiger may likely have additional insurance coverage for other parts of his body.

There have been reports that the road in question has caused other accidents and is known for being slightly dangerous, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Proving that the road is dangerous is a difficult process and could be an entire court case unto itself; a suit between the city and Tiger’s team, but that‘s unlikely to happen and would require a tremendous amount of work.

The Damage Done

All personal injury attorneys have to determine pain and suffering, bodily injury, and property damage.

In the case of the Tiger Woods car accident, his injuries include a shattered ankle and two leg fractures, “Lucky to be alive”, said one L.A. County sheriff. Woods will require surgery for the compound fracture on one of his legs.

His 2021 Hyundai Genesis was written off after rolling several times.

Moving on From This

Woods will require surgery to recover from injuries sustained in the car accident and watched the WGC-Workday Championship on Sunday, February 28th from his bed, where he said it was “touching” to see server golfers including Rory McIlroy and Patrick Reed, played in red shirts and black pants, an homage to Tiger’s signature uniform on the green.

Of course, McIlroy and Woods have had a long-time friendship/rivalry on the green and have been known to even give each other a few friendly jabs where possible on and off the green. Which, in our humble opinion, makes this show of support that much more special.

Tournament winner Collin Morikawa said, “Tiger means everything to me. And yes, he had the crash and thankfully he’s all right, and hopefully he has a quick and great recovery. But I don’t think we say thank you enough, so I want to say thank you to Tiger.”

Everyone at Steinger, Greene & Feiner, wishes him a speedy recovery.
