Child abuse law firm promises $1,000 to aspiring lawyers.
WEST PALM BEACH – CHILD abuse law firm Steinger, Greene & Feiner unveiled a new scholarship for law students this week. The scholarship will help future lawyers who want to fight for the rights of abused children and their families.
Steinger, Greene and Feiner lawyers work continuously to help victims recover and move past abuse, and want tomorrow’s attorneys to do the same. More than 6 million children are abused in the United States each year according to the nonprofit Childhelp (retrieved 7/22/2014).
“This is an issue that’s near to all of our hearts,” said Michael Steinger, the firm’s co-founder. “When you see firsthand the effect that abuse has on a child’s life, you feel a need to act.”
Steinger says that attorneys are in a unique position to advocate on behalf of abused children.
“Legal remedies range from restraining orders and other protections for victims, to winning the compensation for counseling and therapy” he said. “With proper resources for treatment, child abuse does not have to be a life sentence for the victim.”
The Steinger, Greene & Feiner Law Scholarship for Child Advocates will award $1,000 to a current or aspiring law student with a passion for child advocacy. Applicants can be survivors themselves or may have simply worked or volunteered in the field of child protection.
“We know that nothing can undo the pain that abuse survivors have gone through,” Steinger said, “But we believe legal help can give them a new start and a better life.”
