Michael Feiner: Finding the Moments That Define Everything – I Love My Attorney Spotlight

If life is a series of moments, then Michael Feiner puts those moments on trial. Michael has spent his life taking advantage of the moments that define his cases and his life. Michael never misses an opportunity to follow his intuition and he has followed that intuition to success, time and time again. Although the law can be taught, instinct cannot.

That instinct has made all the difference in Michael’s career as one of the top lawyers in Florida.

Initially, it was a family friend who first told him that he would make a great lawyer. Michael followed his gut as well as that advice to find that he did have a knack for the law; more specifically: personal injury law.

Michael has always believed that behind every successful case there are one or two moments that truly influence the outcome. He has made it his life’s work to find, and to capitalize on these defining moments. Not only in his personal life, but throughout his legal career and in each and every case he tackles.

Michael is Florida grown and raised; hailing from Plantation. At the firm, Michael is always firing on all cylinders, but at home he likes to take his time and decompress by enjoying the Florida weather and 18 holes on some of the legendary golf courses.

Mr. Feiner is a partner in the Fort Lauderdale office of Steinger, Greene & Feiner. Since being admitted to the Florida Bar in 2001, he has devoted his practice to representing plaintiffs throughout Florida in various tort and strict liability cases and has successfully litigated cases against national insurance companies, large public companies, and governmental agencies, resulting in hundreds of millions of dollars for his clients.

Friends and family describe Michael as caring, and so do his clients. Even now, Michael recalls one of his most memorable cases: a young lady from a low-income area was injured because a wooden handrail gave way in her apartment building. The resulting fall caused an injury severe enough to require neck surgery. Though the case may have been cut and dry in any other circumstance, unfortunately, this young woman had a troubled past and some run ins with the law. A fact that was used against her by the defense. She was called a liar, and generally dismissed as such.

But Michael saw through this thin veneer the defense had created. Like the many moments he finds in his cases, he had a moment where he listened to his gut and decided that this young woman was telling the truth and deserved justice. Her past and her socioeconomic status meant that many had overlooked her needs and concerns, but Michael seized this moment. He fought for his client and at the end of the trial, he asked the Jury to give her a 7-figure settlement to make her whole and punish the reckless actions of the landlord who had created this unsafe environment.

The jury gave his client every penny that he asked for. At the time, that verdict was the largest verdict in that county for a premises case. 

Michael handles all types of personal injury and wrongful death cases on behalf of his clients, including automobile negligence, premises liability, medical malpractice, product liability, dog bites, and sexual harassment. His product liability case against Microsoft, as well as his representation of victims of sexual harassment and abuse by physicians, has garnered him important media attention at both the local and national levels.

He has followed his instincts and that has made all the difference in his life and in the lives of his clients. His work has made him renowned in South Florida. And the cases he wins leave his clients compensated and whole again. Whenever his clients leave a meeting with Michael, they always say “I love my attorney”.
