Twelve Putnam County middle school students were taken to the hospital following a bus accident involving a Toyota Tacoma on Thursday September 19, 2013. The accident occurred with 26 students riding in the C.H. Price Middle School bus on its afternoon commute to take the students home for the day. Florida Highway Patrol officials say the school bus was forced to swerve off the road to avoid hitting the pickup truck that was attempting a left-hand turn right in front of the approaching school vehicle, violating the bus’ right of way. The school bus ran off the road and flipped onto its side before coming to a stop. Florida Highway Patrol has stated they are considering possible charges against the driver of the Tacoma pending the completion of the investigation.
