5 Perfect Places for a Bike Ride in Miami

Miami is the perfect place to live if you love the outdoors. It’s constantly sunny and warm, and between the beach, the walking trails and the bike paths, there’s always something to do. Miami is also relatively flat, making bike rides a leisurely affair.

Of course, Miami is also full of drivers who may not always be paying attention. That can make bike riding around the city more dangerous than it needs to be. If you are injured in a bicycle accident, it’s important to talk to a Miami personal injury attorney about your legal options.

If riding a bike is your ideal way to enjoy the sunshine and get some exercise, here are 5 perfect places for a bike ride in Miami.

1. The Venetian Causeway

Venetian Causeway, North, Atlantic Ave, Miami, FL 33132

The Venetian Islands are a chain of man-made islands, created in the early 20th century. In 1927, a series of 12 bridges was constructed to connect the islands to each other and the mainland. Today, the Venetian Causeway is a beautiful bike route for all levels of riders.

You can, of course, bike the full causeway. However, there is plenty to enjoy on each island if you want a shorter bike ride with the family!

2. Old Cutler Road

Old Cutler Rd, Miami, FL

The historic Old Cutler Road is a picture-perfect bike trail that travels through some of the most beautiful neighborhoods in the Greater Miami area. The trail covers 13.5 miles of easy paths covered by banyans and ficus trees! It is important to note that the trail is near an active road.

Ideally, anyone could bike Old Cutler Road. But, because there are roots and plant debris on the path, it may be best to not bring young, inexperienced riders.

3. Amelia Earhart Park

401 E 65th St, Hialeah, FL 33013

Just north of Miami is Amelia Earhart Park. This 51-acre park offers plenty of bike trails, as well as other amenities for the whole family to enjoy, including five lakes or fishing, a petting zoo, a large dog park, playgrounds, pony rides and more. There are also water sports to enjoy for a fee.

The park is free, but parking is $7 on the weekends. For bicyclists, there are a variety of different paths available for all riding levels, and bikes are available for rent!

4. Matheson Hammock Park

9610 Old Cutler Rd, Miami, FL 33156

If you want to enjoy a taste of the best South Florida has to offer, be sure to visit Matheson Hammock Park. Situated on Old Cutler Road, this 630-acre park has plenty of walking and biking paths for you and your family to enjoy. There’s also a man-made atoll for swimming and kitesurfing in the warm waters.

Parking is $5 on the weekdays, and $7 on the weekends. Biking on the paths is free, and the park also offers marina services. There’s also a great restaurant you can’t miss out on!

5. South Pointe Park and Pier

1 Washington Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139

If you’re heading to South Beach, South Pointe Park and Pier is a must-visit destination. The massive, shady park has easy, leisurely bike paths for you and your family to enjoy, as well as access to beautiful beaches, a playground, a splash pad and other amenities.

South Pointe Park and Pier is located near many fantastic local restaurants and businesses, including on the pier itself. If you’re visiting the area, be sure to make a whole day of it!
