Charles J. Parrish

Attorney

Memphis, Nashville

Being a trial lawyer is about telling my client’s story. When people come to our office, they’re at a delicate time of need. It’s my job to listen to clients, to understand, and to be present for my client’s issues. As a trial lawyer, it’s my job to fight for my clients, and that’s what I’ll do.
— Charles, “C.J.” Parrish

C.J. grew up in Mount Juliet, Tennessee where at a young age he developed a curiosity for learning about the law. He started his legal career as a runner while he was attending college at Cumberland University before he moved to Memphis to attend law school. While in law school, he developed a passion for using his legal abilities to help those in need. For him, being a successful lawyer is being able to go to sleep at night knowing you fought for what’s right.

Focused on building practical skills to assist his future career, C.J. spent the majority of his law school career working in litigation. He gained experience as a law clerk working for a prominent family law firm in Memphis. Through this law firm, he was able to learn through court room trials, hearings, and deposition observations. He was also able to work on high profile cases such as one involving the legitimacy of marriages conducted by ministers who were ordained through online churches.

On top of being a law clerk, C.J. served as a student attorney at the same time in the Medical-Legal Partnership and Advanced Medical-Legal Partnership Clinics at the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. In these clinics he worked with LeBonheur Children’s Hospital to assist lower-income families and children with healthcare and educational legal issues, free of charge. As a reward for his outstanding work, he was awarded the Clinic Legal Excellency Award for exceptional legal advocacy on behalf of his clients.

As an attorney, C.J. plans on further developing his career by continuously polishing his litigation skills so he can better assist his clients. He welcomes the chance of working at Steinger, Greene, and Feiner to further this goal. He credits his past mentor in law school, Larry Rice, for not only building his litigation skills but for also helping him develop personal skills such as empathy and listening, which he believes are equally important to serving clients.

C.J. currently lives in the Nashville area. He’s a die-hard hockey fan who has followed the Nashville Predators religiously since he was a kid. During his free time, C.J. enjoys playing golf, going to concerts, going to sports games, and hanging out with his golden retriever, Phoebe.
