We all hope that someone will stop to help us when we are in trouble. In the age of cell phones and other technology, people rarely do. Most assume that the person in trouble can call on their own or that “someone else” will. The good news is that there are still people out there who will lend a helping hand. In this unfortunate incident, it was that good Samaritan who lost her life.
According to reports, a woman from Boynton Beach was killed on November 12 after stopping to help another motorist. The woman stopped alongside I-95 when she noticed that another vehicle had broken down. That car had been involved in a collision and the driver was in need of assistance.
Troopers say that a pickup truck was heading towards the scene when it tried to swerve to miss the vehicle. Instead of hitting the vehicle, the truck struck the good Samaritan who was only trying to help. The accident remains under investigation and it was unclear whether anyone would be charged criminally.
Family members say that the woman was with her twin sister at the time of the accident and that she leaves behind a 5-year-old son.
