Most people don’t think twice about loading groceries or other shopping items into their trunk. We simply pop the lid, transfer items from the cart to our trunk and leave the parking lot. Unfortunately, things weren’t so simple for a woman outside of a Publix Super Market in Palm Beach County.
Reports say that the woman was loading groceries into her trunk when another driver quickly reversed out of a parking space in the same lot. The accident happened at about 10:30 p.m. The female driver of the vehicle had two passengers in her car. The driver struck the woman, who then fell beneath the vehicle. The driver continued to drive in reverse, stopping when she hit a curb.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident that witnesses described as shocking. Others interviewed described the parking lot as a dangerous one. Some choose to park in certain areas that they deem to be safer. It is unknown if the driver of the vehicle will face charges in connection with the woman’s death. Police have not released details of their investigation, and Publix spokespeople are not commenting on the incident.
