Imagine you are cleaning the house on a Saturday morning. Maybe you are relaxing with a cup of coffee and reading a new book. The weather is beautiful and you are looking forward to your day. Suddenly you hear a bang and feel your house shudder.
This may have been what happened on Saturday morning when a woman crashed her vehicle into a home on Genessee Avenue. The accident occurred in the 2700 block of the road just before noon. No one is quite sure what caused the woman to run her vehicle off the road and into the residence.
When first responders arrived on scene, they found the woman trapped in her car. Firefighters were forced to use extrication tools to assist the woman from the vehicle. Once removed from the vehicle, the woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The severity of her injuries was not released.
It was not clear whether anyone was in the house at the time of the crash. No one else was reported to have been injured, but building inspectors will determine if the home is safe to live in prior to repairs being made. Police did not say whether or not the driver of the vehicle would face any charges. It is assumed that an investigation will need to be completed before that determination is made.
