In a terrible turn of events, a man resting under a tree was struck and killed by a car after a collision at 43rd Street and Broadway in West Palm Beach. The accident occurred on October 1 at about 4:30 in the afternoon.
According to reports, a 65-year-old man was sitting under a tree when a car traveling east on 43rd Street collided with a car traveling north on Broadway. The car traveling east was sent in a different direction, ultimately striking the man who was resting against a tree near the intersection.
The area was cordoned off by yellow tape as police conducted their investigation. While it is not known what caused the two cars to run into one another, it is presumed that one did not yield to the other. It is not suspected that alcohol was a factor in the crash.
Neither driver in the collision was injured, nor were the minor passengers in one of the vehicles. Police kept the intersection closed until their investigation was complete and then reopened it for traffic.
