Traveling in a 15-person van, three people were killed and 11 others were injured in a traffic accident early Sunday morning on I-95 in Volusia County, according to the Examiner.
The Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson said that three people were thrown from the van after a tire fell, causing the van to overturn multiple times.
The van was driven by a 57-year-old man from West Palm Beach, and the passengers were migrant workers traveling to New Jersey.
Two men and one woman died at the scene. Two other passengers were taken to Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach in critical condition. The nine other passengers were taken to four area hospitals with various degrees of injuries.
The personal injury lawyers at Steinger, Iscoe & Greene want to remind you that the tires on a vehicle are one of its most important safety features. Be sure that all four tires are in good condition. Get them checked at least annually and replaced as needed.
Also, remember that Florida law requires that everyone in your vehicle have access to a safety belt and that the front seat passengers be buckled up. At Steinger, Iscoe & Green, we strongly encourage everyone to buckle up.
Lastly, don’t overload your vehicle. Too much weight in a vehicle can greatly affect its safety.
The Miami car accident lawyers at Steinger, Iscoe & Greene extend our condolences to the families of those who died in this wreck.
