The couple that was involved in a severe head-on collision in San Diego is calling on Caltrans, the state agency responsible for highway planning and maintenance, to make SR-56 safer.
We wish that accidents never happened, especially those that may have been avoided. In this case, Craig and Kathryn Nyberg say that a median barrier may have helped do exactly that, after a vehicle came crashing into their lane.
The Nyberg’s were driving on SR-56 when, according to official reports, a vehicle traveling nearly 100 MPH in the other direction, crossed the median and caused a head-on collision. Four weeks after the accident, the couple is still recovering from a myriad of injuries. Thankfully none of them life-threatening.
According to 10News, this is the third incident of median-crossing on SR-56, resulting in an accident.
