Each month, we bring you the latest list of product recalls as reported by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission. Here are the latest recalls for July.
The Lumicentro International company sold crystal chandeliers through Home Depot. Some of these fixtures have been recalled because they post a burn hazard. Parts of the fixture can melt due to the heat of halogen bulbs. Customers who have purchased one of these chandeliers should contact 888-356-6430 for an upgrade kit. The kit includes new labels and LED bulbs. There were approximately 10,500 units sold in the United States.
A utility vehicle sold by Cub Cadet has been recalled because the brake system can fail. If it does, there is a risk of crash to the occupants of the vehicle or to innocent bystanders. Consumers are urged to stop using the vehicle and to contact customer service at 888-848-6038 for repair information. About 4,000 vehicles were sold.
Superpedestrian has recalled some of its electric bicycle conversion wheels. These wheels have a rear axle that can fail. If the rear axle fails, the rider can fall off and be injured. Anyone who has purchased one of these wheels should stop using the bicycle and call 617-945-1604 for a free replacement. There were about 230 of these wheels sold across the country.
Exercise is a good idea for anyone, but not on a machine that can cause injury. Core Health & Fitness has recalled one of their exercise machines because the carriage assembly that adjusts the height of the machine can loosen. If it does become loose the carriage can fall on the consumer. If you purchased one of the approximately 3,600 units that were sold, stop using it and contact 800-598-8541 for more information about an onsite repair.
It stands to reason that you would expect a crossbow or rifle to be safe for you to use. If you purchased a TriggerTech trigger for either of these weapons, cease its use. Due to a malfunction, the weapon can discharge without trigger activation. This poses the potential for very serious injury to the user or people nearby. If the recalled item has been discontinued, the company is offering a refund. If not, you will receive a replacement. Call 888-795-1485. There were approximately 2,000 units sold in the United States and the same number sold in Canada.
Enjoy your beer in any glass you like, but not this one. TJX has recalled glass beer mugs sold only at HomeGoods stores. The glass can break if used with hot liquid, posing the risk of laceration and burns. Return the glass to the nearest HomeGoods store for a full refund. To find out if you bought one of the 500 units sold in America or the 1,500 in Canada, call 800-888-0776.
TOMY has recalled a colorful toy chipmunk because parts inside of it can break. This can create a sharp piece that could cut through the toy and cut a child. There were 9,300 sold in America and about 4,700 sold in Canada. Anyone who has this toy should call 866-725-4407 for more information on how to receive both a replacement and a TOMY online store coupon.
Polaris is a popular manufacturer of off-highway vehicles and is always quick to issue recalls when necessary. The RZR 570 has been recalled as has the RZR S 570. The front brake on both of these vehicles can detach, causing a crash and subsequent injury. Any user should cease driving the vehicle and call 800-765-2747 for information about a free repair.
Polaris has also recalled one of its ATVs. The Sportsman 570 All-Terrian Vehicle is recalled because fuel may leak into the headlight pod. If this occurs, the fuel could ignite, burning the riders. There were approximately 25,600 of these ATVs sold in the United States. Consumers should call 800-765-2747 to schedule a free repair.
Manhattan Toy has recalled an activity toy made of colorful plastic tubes. There were close to 15,500 of these toys sold between America and Canada. The tubes can become brittle and break. This poses a choking hazard to infants and toddlers. Consumers can call 800-541-1345 for a full refund.
Consumers have the right to expect that the items they purchase will work and function as intended. When this does not happen, a person can be injured or, worse, killed. If a product you own has been recalled, please stop using it and contact the manufacturer or store of purchase.
