A motorcycle accident occurred on August 18, 2017 in Palm Beach County. A young man lost his life as a result of the collision when his motorcycle was hit head on by a pickup truck. The deceased was only 18 years old.
According to reports, a pick up truck was traveling on Duda Road behind another vehicle. The truck driver attempted to pass the vehicle in front of him. As he drove around the vehicle and into the southbound lane, the driver of the pickup truck entered the path of a motorcycle. The pickup truck and the motorcycle collided and the rider was thrown from his bike.
The driver of the pickup stopped just a short distance from the crash scene and waited for authorities to arrive. Evidence gathered at the scene has led investigators to believe that either alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident. Police did not say what type of evidence was located.
It was not immediately clear if the driver of the pickup truck was arrested or charged with any crime.
Officials urge anyone passing a slow-moving vehicle to be aware of what is coming toward them. Drivers should only pass when it is legally permissible to do so and after making sure the way is clear.
