Five people in a West Palm Beach apartment escaped injury on July 4 when a car rammed into the side of the building. The man was driving a vehicle filled with propane tanks, and police say he drove his car into the building intentionally.
According to reports, the crash was the result of a domestic dispute. The driver of the vehicle died in the accident. After the impact, the car burst into flames and one of the propane tanks ignited. Police say there were four propane tanks in the car: three in the back and one in the front.
Luckily for the people inside the apartment, the vehicle did not make it through the concrete wall. The occupants of the apartment that was hit were able to leave through a back door. Residents of the apartments not hit helped each other to safety after the vehicle caught on fire.
Police say that there is a history of domestic disputes between the driver of the vehicle and one of the occupants of the apartment. The Red Cross was assisting 18 people, including five children, who had been displaced because of the accident.
