We are always saddened to hear about accidents, especially those that involve semi-trucks and 18-wheelers. Knowing the power and the force they may exert when involved in a crash, large working vehicles should be operated with extreme care, to help avoid incidents like the one in Suwannee County last week.
The Florida Highway Patrol says 42-year-old Eliecer Labrada was driving a log truck onto U.S. 90 from County Road 137 when he pulled directly into the path of 42-year-old Tracy Deas’ SUV. The accident happened just after midnight and closed U.S. 90 for hours. Deas was taken to Shands Hospital, but was pronounced dead just after 8:30 this morning.
The truck driver was not hurt, and there is no word yet on any charges.
