Each month, in the interest of consumer safety, we bring you a list of the latest recalls as announced by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission. The following list contains the latest recalls for the month of June, but is not all inclusive. If you have any of these products in your home, we strongly suggest following through with the recall instructions. We also suggest that you check out the CPSC website for a comprehensive list of dangerous or hazardous products.
Children’s bath robes manufactured by Kreative Kids have been recalled because they do not meet the Federal Flammability Standard. There were about 7,600 of these robes sold in the United States, and they pose a burn hazard to young wearers. If your child has one of these robes, take it away and call 800-786-2919 for refund information.
Arctic Cat has recalled several snowmobiles due to a malfunctioning drive clutch. The clutch can fracture and cause a danger of impact from flying fragments. There were approximately 2,700 of these snowmobiles sold in the country. Your dealer should contact you if you have one of the machines, but you can also call 800-279-6851 to see if your model is affected and how you can initiate a free repair.
Light fixtures manufactured by Lithonia Lighting have been recalled. These overhead lights can detach from the ceiling, posing a hazard for anyone standing nearby. It is recommended that any of the approximately 5,600 consumers who have installed one of these lights takes the lens off and contacts the company. Call 888-876-4181 for repair information.
If you have a swimming pool, you may have a pump motor manufactured by Nidec. Some of these motors are not properly grounded and pose a shock hazard. A qualified technician will come to your home to make the necessary repairs. Contact 877-282-0223 for more information on the recalled motors and whether or not you are affected.
People across the country use baby gates even if they don’t have children. If you purchased one by Madison Mill, you may be affected by a recall. Certain gates pose a danger as small heads can become lodged in the “V” opening at the top of the gate. If you have one of these accordion-style gates, remove it and call 877-220-4705 for information about obtaining a refund for your purchase.
The GT Mountain Bike manufactured by Cycling Sports Group has been recalled. There were only about 1,000 affected units sold in the United States. These bikes have handlebars that can crack while the bike is being ridden, posing the risk of a fall. If you have one of these bicycles, it will be repaired free of charge. Call 800-726-2453 for more information.
As a rock climber, you rely on your gear to keep you safe. If you have a climbing belay manufactured by G THI, you should stop using it immediately and call 800-860-3653 to find out if your belay is affected by this recall. If it is, your device will be replaced at no cost to you. Continued use of the recalled belay poses a risk of fall.
If you ordered a scarf from iFashioning on Amazon, do not wear it. The scarf does not meed Federal Flammability Standards and poses the risk of burn injuries to the wearer. There were about 2,000 of these scarves sold on Amazon. If you believe that you have such a scarf, call 866-216-1072 for information about receiving a refund.
If your bicycle has a fork manufactured by Advanced Composites, you could be in danger of a fall. The fork legs can crack and malfunction. There were only about 40 of these forks sold in the United States, but consumers can call 800-417-1597 to find out if they have one and how to get a free inspection and, if necessary, replacement.
If you have purchased an office chair from Staples, you may be at risk of falling to the floor. Certain chairs have been recalled due to faulty legs. There are about 124,000 of these chairs out in the public. If you have recently purchased a Hazen Mesh Office Chair from the office supply chain, call 866-755-1321 to receive a free replacement part and instructions for changing it out.
