Neighbors in one Fort Lauderdale area are complaining of feeling trapped in their homes. They are afraid to go outside. They are afraid to let their children play in their own yards. All this because of a group of dogs that persistently escape their yard and wreak havoc.
People are saying that the dogs have attacked pets, killed several cats in the area and even tried to bite people. One woman told of the dogs running at her while she was getting in her car to leave for work in the morning. The three dogs are described as “huge” and neighbors say that when they get out of their yard they behave aggressively.
People are keeping their own dogs inside their homes and not taking walks with their own pets out of fear. The owner of the animals has been cited six separate times. In October, officers removed eight dogs from the home because of poor living conditions. It was only days later that four of those dogs were returned to the home.
A determination regarding the dogs is expected to be made in March. A hearing has been scheduled in which the owner and witnesses will be able to testify. Until then, neighbors will be watching over their shoulders.
