Last Tuesday, a Florida doctor received a guilty verdict for misdemeanor battery for groping a 21-year-old patient in 2007. County Judge Anne Wansboro sentenced Dr. Gunwant Dhaliwal, 51, to 10 days in jail and ordered him to pay $625 in court costs. Michael Feiner, a firm partner from Steinger, Iscoe & Greene’s Port St. Lucie office, has a civil trial for the case set to begin in September. Feiner is representing the young ladies.
The case stemmed from a patient allegation that Dhaliwal, a board-certified internist who’s operated Gulf View Walk-in Clinics in New Port Richey and Spring Hill since 1993, pushed her back on an exam table, lifted her shirt, and fondled her breasts at his New Port Richey office in May 2007. The patient sought Dhaliwal’s help after a car accident and complained to him of pain in her left side, neck, shoulder, and arm, but reported that Dhaliwal kept asking her about her chest.
Dhaliwal testified on the stand that he did not touch the woman’s breasts and his defense witness, a nurse at his office, said that she was in the room and didn’t see anything out of the ordinary.
This was the first of three criminal trials that have developed from molestation allegations against Dhaliwal. On August 1, he’ll return to court to face a similar charge from another woman. This woman alleges that she was seeking employment with Dhaliwal and went to his office so he could demonstrate a facial cosmetic procedure on her. She says Dhaliwal lifted her shirt and groped her chest.
Attorney Michael Feiner has handled all types of personal injury and wrongful death cases on behalf of plaintiffs, including automobile negligence, premises liability, medical malpractice, product liability, dog bites, and sexual harassment.
