The Sun-Sentinal reported that about 82,000 China-manufactured baby rattles imported by target have been recalled. The defective product can break open release small beads, which children can choke on. The defective products are made in the shape of a white baseball, a brown football, and an orange basketball. No Florida defective product injuries have been reported.
Also, about 5,200 Cooks Essential electric toasters, also manufactured in China, have been recalled for spontaneously turning on when the levers haven’t been pushed down. These defective products, distributed by Salton Inc. and sold by QVC Inc., pose a potential fire hazard, especially in homes where residents leave items on top of the toaster when they believe it isn’t in use. So far, 10 reports have been made about the defective products spontaneously turning on, including one fire where kitchen cabinets were damaged. No injuries have been reported due to the defective products yet.
