A 32-year-old resident of Fellsmere, Florida, lost his life in a motorcycle accident early Sunday morning when his motorcycle veered into a guardrail in Micco, Florida.
The accident occurred at 4 a.m. on Micco Road near the intersection of Paladin Circle.
Florida Highway Patrol say the man was traveling west when he lost control of his 2001 Honda motorcycle around a curb. The crash impact bent the guardrail.
Police told WFTV that the crash site is notorious for motorcycle accidents. They say the man, who had served in the United States Marines, was not wearing a helmet.
The victim of the Florida motorcycle accident had lived in Fellsmere for one year and prior to that lived in the town of his birth—Albany, New York.
The results of a blood alcohol test are not yet available.
Do you think the man may have survived had he been wearing a helmet? Do you think the county should do more to correct areas of a highway that they know are dangerous for motorcyclists?
