A hit-and-run crash last week took the life of a father and son on Florida’s Turnpike. The accident occurred in Miami-Dade and cost a 34-year-old man and a 57-year-old man their lives says the Florida Highway Patrol.
A man was driving a 2016 Chevy Silverad on State Road 836 when he collided with the guardrail. The car then spun and ended up facing northwest on the outside shoulder. The man got out of the vehicle, called police and his father, and waited for help to arrive.
The father arrived on scene and the two men were standing together outside of the vehicles when they were hit by a Chevy Camaro. The people who were in the Camaro got out of that vehicle and jumped into the father’s car and fled the scene. The father’s car was later found in Homestead. Police continue to look for the driver.
No further details of the accident were available. It is unknown why the Camaro left the roadway, if the incident was intentional or why the people in the Camaro decided to leave the scene in a stolen vehicle.
