Two paramedics were killed on June 1 in a traffic collision, and the driver of the other vehicle has been arrested. The paramedics were killed when their rig overturned after colliding with a vehicle.
According to reports, a man has been charged with two counts of DUI manslaughter, one count of DUI damage to person/property, one count of driving without a license causing death, and two counts of vehicular homicide. The arrested man was also critically injured in the crash. He was treated at a local hospital and was arrested upon his release.
The man accused of causing the accident has been detained at the Palm Beach County Jail. It is suspected that he may have been in the country illegally, but ICE officials will not comment on the case, citing a lack of information. If it is found that the man should not be in the country, his criminal trial will take precedence over any immigration proceedings.
The man who has been arrested has a lengthy list of prior traffic violations. In 10 years, he has been cited for not having a tag on his vehicle, driving without a license and passing in a no-pass zone. Survivors of the two victims are asking why this man was on the road at all. Unfortunately, no one can answer that question.
