A man and his wife were traveling west of Lantana on Saturday afternoon when their motorcycle collided with a vehicle. The man was killed and his wife was injured.
According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, a vehicle was heading east on Lantana Road. The vehicle was in the left turn lane in an attempt to steer onto Lake Osborne Drive. The vehicle began to make the turn when it was struck by the motorcycle. Both riders were thrown from the bike.
The driver of the vehicle walked away without injury. That driver was reported to have been wearing a seat belt. Both motorcycle riders were wearing helmets at the time of the collision. The man was said to be a local business owner and his wife a pharmacist. There was no word as to her condition or her specific injuries.
The couple had been married for five years and had no children. Police continue to investigate the accident and no charges have been filed as of yet. It was unclear whether the driver of the vehicle had clearance to turn or if she turned in front of the bike.
