Another person has lost their life due to the high-speed train in Florida. This train has been linked to several deaths since its first run. The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
According to reports from the Delray Beach Police Department and information on Twitter, the man was struck by a northbound train just before 1 p.m. Witnesses said that the accident occurred south of Southeast 4th Street. Initial accounts of the accident are leading police to believe that it may have been a suicide.
Regardless of the cause of the accident, it is the fifth fatality involving the train line and the fourth in Palm Beach County. Other victims that have been struck have all sustained injury, but have not lost their lives. Any witnesses to this latest accident are being asked to speak with Detective Joseph Hart with the Delray Beach Police Department. He can be reached by calling 561-243-7800.
Train officials have stated that they have increased safety measures and worked hard to warn the public that these trains move faster than others in the area. Whether these measures are enough to keep the general public safe remains to be seen.
