On Monday in Southport, two men were seriously injured in a watercraft head-on collision, reports the News Herald.
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), the two vessels were coming around a blind curve near the Bathead boat launch when the crash occurred.
Both men sustained serious injuries, but are expected to survive.
Luckily, a nearby boat was able to provide assistance until emergency crews could respond.
Both men were wearing the legally required personal floatation devices (PFDs), which might have saved their lives. “If they hadn’t have had life jackets on, we very well could be looking at a different outcome to this accident,” an FWC official said.
Because of their injuries, FWC investigators could not interview the men to find out what happened. The investigation is expected to take longer than expected.
