Todd Baker, President of the Young Lawyers Section of the Broward County Bar Association, is pleased to announce that the YLS has been named the Florida Bar Division Affiliate of the Year and recognized the group for Member Project of the Year for the YLS Boot Camp. Last year was a great one for YLS. The group hosted close to 50 events throughout the year, raising money for various charities in the community.
In addition to their fundraising efforts, YLS:
The group hosted its 29th annual YLS Golf Tournament last year that raised $38,000 for 4Kids of South Florida, and held the Charity Poker Tournament that raised nearly $12,000. In total, YLS raised close to $80,000 in 2016 for various groups and charities.
Coming up in 2017, YLS plan to continue its efforts in the community. The group’s goal is to create a job fair to assist graduating law students and clerks and establish a job posting board on the BCBA website. YLS is also working to design and implement a program that sends lawyers into the community to educate children about the profession and to conduct outreach for those who require education about various legal issues. The group would also like to create health and wellness programs that teach attorneys how to deal with stress and live healthier lives.
We here at Steinger, Iscoe & Greene would like to offer our sincerest congratulations to the Young Lawyers Section. The honors bestowed upon this group of professionals is well deserved. We would also like to congratulate the YLS on a productive 2016, and be the first to say that we anticipate amazing things from its members in 2017.
